- Q: What is nursing home/assisted living negligence?
A: Nursing home/assisted living negligence means that the doctors, nurses, therapists, aides, dietitians or other health care professionals in the nursing home or assisted living facility failed to provide care that meets the standard of care. As a result, the resident was injured. The decision to place a loved one in a nursing home or assisted living facility is very difficult. An elderly resident of these institutions is dependent upon the care and skill of the health care providers. Negligent care or abuse of these residents is inexcusable and the law provides for civil claims when these actions cause damage.
